UK National Maternal Near Miss Surveillance Programme (UKNeS)
This module was produced as part of the UK National Maternal Near Miss Surveillance Programme (UKNeS).
UKNeS is UK's first integrated national programme of research studies on near-miss maternal morbidity (defined as 'severe life-threatening obstetric complication necessitating urgent medical intervention in order to prevent likely death of the mother'). It provides a unique opportunity to study risk factors, diagnosis and management of specific rare conditions on a national level and to relate these to outcomes in order to make recommendations for best practice.
This study presents independent research funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) under the "Beyond maternal death: Improving the quality of maternity care through national studies of "near-miss" maternal morbidity" programme (Programme Grant RP-PG-0608-10038). The views expressed in this website are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of the NHS, the NIHR or the Department of Health. The funder had no role in study design, data collection and analysis, decision to publish, or preparation of the website.
