Pre-eclampsia and high blood pressure in pregnancy

Bev is a 39-year-old White English woman who lives with her wife and their two daughters (4 years; 6 months). She is a communications manager in higher education, though she was on maternity leave at the time of interview.

Charlotte, who is White British, has four children (aged 13, 10, 8 and 5 months). She is the full-time carer for her children, three of whom have additional needs. Charlotte has a partner, although they do not live together.

Chichi is a 35-year-old Black African woman who lives with her husband and their two children ages 7 & 8. She was doing a mental health nursing degree and working as a carer at the time of interview. 

Ellie is a 29-year-old White British woman who lives with her husband and 10-month-old son. She recently returned to work as a medical secretary.

Emma lives with her parents and her two-and-a-half-month-old daughter. She is in a relationship with her daughter's father, although they do not live together at the moment. She is currently on maternity leave.

Helen Melody is a 36-year-old woman who identifies as Black African. She lives in the UK (with Indefinite Leave to Remain) with her husband and their two-year-old son. Helen Melody trained as a teacher, and now works in health and social care.

Huma is a 38-year-old electrical engineer from Pakistan. She lives with her husband and 14-month-old daughter.

Jemma is a 28-year-old White British woman who lives with her husband and their three children (11, 5 and 11 months old). She works as a care assistant.

Jessica is a 32 year-old White British woman, who lives with her husband and 4 month old baby. She is currently on maternity leave.

Kadri is a 34-year-old woman who lives with her husband and their three-year-old daughter. She is originally from Estonia, has settled status in the UK and identifies as White European. She is self-employed as a psychotherapist.

Lizzy is a 34-year-old Black African woman living with her two children (aged 7 and 3) in a refuge for women affected by domestic violence. She has applied for a visa to remain in the UK.

Mariama is a 44-year-old Black African woman seeking asylum in the UK. She is a single mother to a two-year-old son and also has a 26-year-old daughter who is still in Africa.

Mercy is a 43-year-old woman from Africa who is seeking asylum in the UK. She is single and lives with her son, who is nearly two, in shared accommodation.

Mina is a 28-year-old woman from Iran who now has permission to stay in the UK. She was a hairdresser in Iran but is currently caring for her daughter full-time. Mina lives with her husband and their two-year-old daughter.

Samantha is a 28-year-old White British woman who lives with her husband and two children (2 years, and 3 months). She is currently on maternity leave.

Sonia is a 42-year-old mother of 3 (12-year-old twins and a one-year-old) who was born in Uganda and now has British citizenship.

Taylor is a 20-year-old, White British woman who lives with her partner and six-month-old daughter. She works in retail and is currently on maternity leave. 

Tessa is a 42-year-old woman who lives with her partner and their 3-year-old daughter. She identifies as mixed Black and White British and works with an organisation that supports Black women during and after pregnancy.
